San Antonio Glasshouse is an independently owned event venue founded by Vanessa and Sean Gibson. The property carries deep personal significance for co-founder Vanessa: it was her childhood home, and transforming it into a destination venue was a long-held vision she worked for years to bring to life. Sean brought complementary strengths to the project through his background in photography and event production. Together, the Gibsons set out to build something the San Antonio market hadn’t seen before.
Their goal was a venue defined by light, openness, and flexibility: a space that could shift effortlessly between an intimate wedding ceremony, a corporate networking event, and a late-night birthday celebration without losing its character. The structure needed to do the heavy lifting aesthetically so the space could function as a true blank canvas.
The challenge
Creating a venue that matched the Gibsons’ vision required more than a tent or a traditional ballroom. They needed an architectural structure with real permanence, dramatic visual impact, and the ability to serve as a polished, ready-to-use event environment on its own. The structure also had to accommodate up to 280 guests, provide panoramic sightlines to the surrounding landscape, and meet the structural and safety requirements for a permanent installation in Texas.
A standard event tent wouldn’t deliver the aesthetic they were after. A traditional building would come with a fraction of the natural light and flexibility. The Gibsons needed a third option: an engineered structure that looked and performed like a premium architectural space.
The Liri Tent solution
Liri Tent US supplied a steel-framed orangery, an engineered glass structure purpose-built for permanent and semi-permanent venue installations. Steel-framed orangeries are Liri’s preferred solution for long-term venue applications, offering superior structural integrity, a refined aesthetic, and compatibility with full glass wall and door systems. Powder-coated for lasting durability, the steel frame delivers the strength required at this scale while maintaining clean sightlines and an uncluttered interior.
With approximately 90% of the structure’s exterior surface made of glass, the Liri orangery achieves exactly the immersive, light-filled atmosphere the Gibsons had envisioned. Floor-to-ceiling glass panels create panoramic views of the surrounding landscape from every angle inside the structure, ensuring that the natural setting becomes part of the event experience rather than something guests are separated from.
Liri orangeries are available in both steel and aluminum configurations, with span widths ranging from 16 to 40 meters and full customization options including color, wall type, flooring, climate control, and lighting integration. For San Antonio Glasshouse, the structure was configured to serve as a permanent venue with no additional decoration required to impress and no auxiliary structures needed to function at full capacity.
The space today
San Antonio Glasshouse operates as a full-service event venue offering a flexible, vendor-restriction-free experience. The Liri orangery accommodates a wide variety of events, including weddings and receptions, private parties and milestone celebrations, corporate events and networking mixers, and content creation and photography shoots.
The venue is equipped with private prep suites, curated furniture, separate restroom facilities with baby changing stations, full wheelchair accessibility, and on-site janitorial services. Multiple booking packages allow clients to tailor the space to their specific needs, with availability up to two years in advance or at a discount through the venue’s short-notice calendar.
Because the Liri orangery functions as a finished architectural environment, the Gibsons are able to offer a visually complete, photography-ready space without requiring clients to invest in additional staging. That is a meaningful competitive advantage in the San Antonio market.
The outcome
The finished Liri orangery has given San Antonio a genuinely one-of-a-kind event venue. The all-glass design creates a dramatic visual impact that sets it apart from conventional spaces in the region, and the open-concept interior has proven adaptable across every event type the Gibsons host. For Vanessa and Sean, the project represents the realization of a personal vision and proof that a well-engineered architectural structure can transform not just a site, but an entire guest experience.
For Liri Tent US, this project demonstrates what an orangery installation can achieve when structural engineering meets architectural design intent. The result is a venue that performs as well as it looks, season after season.
